Apply and integrate knowledge and understanding of other engineering disciplines to support the study of automotive engineering. Responding to the regional and national shortage of graduate qualified Engineers the University of Wolverhampton is currently investing over £10m in new Engineering facilities at its Telford Innovation Campus and City Campus in Wolverhampton. Some of our graduates go directly into such sponsored research at Brunel, leading to the award of a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD), whilst others spend several years in industry first. Automobile/Automotive engineering is a branch of vehicle engineering, incorporating elements of mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and safety engineering as applied to the design, manufacture and operation of motorcycles, automobiles, buses and trucks and their respective engineering subsystems.
The automotive manufacturing industry covers a range of companies involved in the manufacturing of everything from whole vehicles and bodies to engines and components. Students who complete the program will earn a certificate in automotive engineering at a time when the auto industry is creating new jobs and strengthening its role as a cornerstone of the state economy, according to Hoffman. Many students progress onto MSc or PhD programmes upon completion of a BEng or MEng degree.
As part of a Master in Automotive Engineering program, students can specialize in areas such as aviation, energy and transport, green engineering, transportation design, and automotive systems. The programme will train engineers in the skills and knowledge they need to work in the automotive industry of the future. Describe basic legal and risk principles applicable to mechanical and automotive related situations, including health and safety.
